3 Offline Marketing Medium for Student Clubs

3 Offline Marketing Medium for Student Clubs

  • Collaterals: Posters, Brochures & leaflet
  • Events: Road shows, Open Day & Recruitment Drive
  • Strategic collaborations: working with other organizations

Collaterals

Collaterals refer to poster, brochures & etc. In marketing and sales, is the collection of media used to support the sales of a product or service. Well, in your case it’s the posters and brochures to promote the service provided by your club.

Collaterals are a one-off thing and I know all club do these things. But I think you all are wasting money unless:

1.       You are good at designing the message of the material. I’m not talking about the design; I’m talking about how to make it understandable easily.

2.       You know where to put it in order to target the right audience

3.       You know how to use it to get them to a ‘next step’, meaning to get them to like your facebook page or visit a registration counter etc

Most clubs just think that a pretty design is enough. Unfortunately normal people will just walk pass the poster because they think nothing is special about, the y would think “it’s just a poster of just any other student project”

Events/Road shows

Events and road shows are the most interactive of all offline marketing mediums. You are really engaging your audience; this personal approach would allow you to help the audience to understand your club more & ultimately it is more effective in attracting new members. Unfortunately, this is very time consuming and requires a lot of man power. So, plan the timing & location of your road shows so that it will allow a lot of new members like during early semester or something like that.

Strategic Collaborations

Sometimes you can increase the awareness of other clubs by working with other clubs. UPM’s local Outbounders society sometimes helps other organization to some teamwork training that would include doing flying fox for these other clubs. Increasing the awareness of the Outbounders and also what they do. Maybe you should think of another way you work with other clubs or a way your club can provide to their members which other clubs cannot provide.

Don’t limit yourselves with other clubs you can also work with your faculty, university administration, local NGOs and many more. Who knows what opportunity might come up?

Regardless, there are many forms to promote your club rather than going online. After all, online marketing has become a bit saturated because anyone can do it. So, why don’t put some effort and do something that people do less. Start with the 3 methods and try to master them.

Be. You.
